Good Morning,
Romans 8:18 (NIV)
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
It's pretty evident that almost all of us are going through some very difficult and trying times. I guess we could even call some of what we're experiencing suffering, don't you think? That's why what we read today should give us a real hope and an inner peace during these times.
None of us wants to experience "suffering" of any kind, of course. However, as we have matured we should have come to understand that suffering is simply another part of living. I mean, if there was no suffering at all, how in the world would we compare being totally well? But, that's another message, I think. Point being, we don't like suffering in our lives, but we also know it will come.
In this knowledge, however, we must also always remember this verse of Scripture that we're blessed to read today. Paul reminds us that the bad times and feelings, the sufferings, that we endure and go through today will be as nothing compared to the glory and wonder we will one day have when we are blessed to be in heaven with the Lord. Our sufferings today, in this life, are short in comparison to the eternity in heaven we will one day have. Even an entire lifetime spent in suffering, God forbid, is as nothing compared with eternity that we are promised with God.
Let's remember what our final outcome will be one day, even as we go through these tough times and experience some suffering in our lives. It's this hope in our lives that make it all worth while.
Love, peace, and blessings,
David
