Rejoice!

Good Morning,

Psalm 118:24 (NIV)
This is the day the LORD has made;

let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Philippians 4:4 (NIV)
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

As I read these verses the rain was coming down and it looked, well, it looked pretty dismal outside. Gray skies, wet streets, muddy pot holes, humidity soaring. Even the birds and the squirrels were off in their nests hiding from the storm. But these verses sort of rattled around in my brain and made me smile. My mind began to see all the wonderful things that this rain, even though it's gloomy outside, brings to us. God reminded me of who He is and what He does.

David told us, about maybe 3,000 years ago or so, that TODAY, this very day we live in, is the day that God has made and given us. David then tells us that we ought to rejoice in this day and be glad in whatever comes along. Then, maybe a thousand years of so later, Paul tells us that we are to rejoice! We are to rejoice in the Lord...ALWAYS! And, to be sure we've heard him correctly, he repeats himself and tells us again that we ought to rejoice!

OK, I have no special or terrifically marvelous insights into these verses. I don't think we need any, do we?

David has told us clearly to rejoice in each day we are given. So, I think we really should.

Paul has told us, again clearly, that we are to rejoice in the Lord. So, again, I think we really should.

I'm going to take some time today and do exactly that. In the rain. With the steely gray skies. With the thunder and lightening. Mud and all. And I will lift my voice rejoicing in the day and in the Lord who has given it to me.

Will you do the same?

Love, peace, and blessings,

David
